Is Deuterium fusion possible on the serface of a CV white dwarf?

Is it possible that after a dwarf nova outburst of the white dwarf primary in a cataclysmic variable (CV) binary system, newly created deuterium will collects on the surface of the white dwarf primary as new H and He accretes from the secondary, and due to perturbations in the new gas shell and the accretion disk, that sporadic deuterium fusion will take place, producing illumination spikes during CV quiescence?|||I guess its possible.
