Variable star or binary star?

what is the different between variable star and binary star?|||A binary star is a double star: two stars which are in orbit around each other.

Variable stars are stars which vary in brightness for many different reasons, as described in the link below. Some are eclipsing binary stars, where one star passes in front of the other and eclipses it at regular intervals, but there are many other things that can cause a star's brightness to vary.|||Variable refers to the variations in the star's light curve while binary refers to a star's multiplicity. A star can be both when there's two of them and one of them eclipses the other.

Clear skies!
